I've just added two new books for you to check out in the GlamAmor Bookstore (by Amazon) here on the site. First is Everyday Icon: Michelle Obama and the Power of Style by Kate Betts. Betts is a fashion journalist who has contributed to Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Women's Wear Daily, and her book includes wonderful coverage of the First Lady's style evolution over the past few years. If you're a fan of modern classic style, and particularly American designers, it's a worthwhile addition to your fashion reference library.
One of the lessons that everyone can learn from Everyday Icon is to embrace color in your wardrobe. This is something I try to impart on GlamAmor as well, so the second book I recommend is the newest from interior designer Jonathan Adler called Happy Chic: Colors. Adler is a great fan of bold color combinations and I always recommend looking to home decor from both the present and the past for inspiration in your wardrobe. I've done this for years and find interior design to be an amazing testing ground to see what color combinations just might work in your clothes as well as your home. I'll start sharing more of those images here on GlamAmor--such as the 1940s kitchen shown above--and Adler's book is a great place to start.
Of course be sure to check out the GlamAmor Bookstore for even more books and movies to inspire your own modern classic style!
