Events--Presenting STYLE STORIES-GLORIA SWANSON at Annenberg Beach House 3/10

In the next of my STYLE STORIES series at the Annenberg Beach House, I'll be speaking about the career and style evolution of Gloria Swanson!

Gloria Swanson
Why Change Your Wife? (1920) + Sunset Boulevard (1950)

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Guest speaker
Annenberg Beach House
Santa Monica, CA

Some from the Golden Age of Hollywood have transcended film and become iconic because of their style.  This is the first in a series that focuses on two films from different times in the careers of four legendary actresses—Marlene Dietrich, Gloria Swanson, Joan Crawford, and Audrey Hepburn

Both films feature a different costume designer working with the star.  Some show a certain continuity of style between the two.  Some show dramatic changes.  They all offer insight into the lives of these women, their evolution as actresses, and ascent as style icons.  Learning the stories behind their screen style gives us even deeper insight into the history of film as well as their impact on the history of fashion.

Join me for the next in this series--a presentation on Gloria Swanson and her style evolution from Why Change Your Wife? (1920) to Sunset Boulevard (1950)--at the Annenberg Beach House in Santa Monica.

The Beach House is the former estate of 1920s and 1930s screen star Marion Davies and William Randolph Hearst, and three of the four stars in this series have a personal connection to the place. Gloria was good friends with Marion and frequently attended parties at the estate.

Event is FREE to the public, but you must RSVP to reserve your seat in order to attend.
